As the Rot steadily destroys every ecosystem they travel through, Lux and Nox are forced to abandon their old life in the pursuit of their only hope; speaking with the deity responsible for the calamity shaking the world’s core and somehow changing their mind. Whilst on their travels, the pair saves an infant tucked away in a woven basket from a swarm of spirits. They takes it upon themselves to keep it safe and unknowingly grow closer to their goal by doing so. As the story progresses the characters encounter hostile monsters and spirits that haunt the 

real world and the dreamscape but little by little both worlds begin to bleed into each other. Nox is better skilled at fighting and taking down the threats in the real world whereas Lux is the only one in the pair to be able to properly see the spirits and defeat them with magic. The pairs goal is to find and collect parts of a totem that will grant them communication with the deity, who they must reason with in order to save the world.
